Energy & Environment Legal Institute President Craig Richardson also welcomed Pruitt’s selection and encouraged him to “gear up for battle” because “draining the EPA swamp will be met with the utmost resistance from an entrenched and well-funded green industrial complex.” He also encouraged Pruitt to pick a deputy EPA administrator with “significant EPA experience” who shares Trump’s vision for the agency and “can protect that vision from a hostile agency staff.”

E&E Legal Institute’s general counsel, David Schnare, was recently appointed to Trump’s EPA transition team. Schnare — a former longtime EPA employee who served as an attorney in the agency’s enforcement office — has been a vocal critic of the Obama EPA.
