House Republicans are worried the Department of Energy (DOE) isn’t doing enough to keep officials from using private email accounts to conduct official business after the department’s chief admitted even he uses a private email account.

“In light of recent reports that you [Secretary Moniz], as well as other top Department officials, have used private e-mail to conduct official work business, the Committee remains concerned that Department employees could be communicating with third party groups poised to influence Department policies,” Republicans on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology wrote in a letter to Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz…

Republicans’ request for records comes just hours after the Energy & Environmental Legal Institute announced it found more evidence top officials at the Environmental Protection Agency were using private email accounts to collude with environmental activists.
