A right-leaning legal institute is asking the Federal Election Commission to investigate Sierra Club Independent Action’s political spending in Iowa, where the group is working to defeat Republican Senate nominee Joni Ernst.

The Energy & Environment Legal Institute has accused the Sierra Club of funneling money to its super political action committee to pay for a $1 million ad blitz against Ernst, who is facing off with Rep. Bruce Braley (D) for the state’s open Senate seat.
