A new report reportedly debunks claims that the Trump administration is placing more people at risk of death with its plan to freeze the corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency announced a plan in August to roll back vehicle emission standards established during the Obama era. The Trump administration argues that this regulation overhaul will give relief to consumers and save lives by reducing traffic fatalities. Their study, authored by Steve Milloy, focused on the science behind PM, which can come from both natural and man-made sources. Natural sources include instances such as forest fires and volcanic eruptions. Examples of man-made sources include smoking, smokestacks and tailpipes.
