Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) has joined two House Democrats in calling for a resolution to declare a climate emergency in the United States, but one leader in the fight against junk science says it’s just “posturing.”

Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-Oregon) said in a press call Tuesday that “the inspiration for this resolution” came to him in February in the midst of President Trump’s “unjustifiable moves to declare a national emergency on the border” after Congress refused to fund the border wall…

Author, Fox News contributor, and JunkScience.com founder Steve Milloy, however, says this is just posturing.

“Democrats own the House of Representatives, and if climate is really important, why don’t they pass a bill mandating emissions cuts, and let’s get on with it rather than wasting time with these ridiculous resolutions that don’t require anyone to do anything,” Milloy poses. “If it’s a real emergency, then pass a bill that requires someone to do something, and then we’ll debate it. But they don’t want to do it. They just want to posture on climate.”
